Toothpaste isn't designed to treat gum disease...it's just a product used to clean your teeth and freshen your breath. The only things that can help gum disease, depending on how severe a case it is, is a good cleaning by your hygienist or a deep cleaning by your dentist (also known as a curettage). If you don't have a Sonicare toothbrush yet, I suggest buying one. They are expensive, but really work well at improving the gum tissue.
