My favorite breed includes all of the "pitbull type" dogs.

I have two American Pitbull Terriers. One I took in from the street, after she was bred and dumped to starve. One I adopted from a rescue, and he was a shelter pull at only 5 weeks old.

I love the breed because when raised and treated right, they are loyal, loving, eager to please companions. Liberty, my first pitbull, was the shyest, most fearful dog I have ever come across.

Even though she had been used and tossed like trash, she became my best friend. I find strength in her. She has over come so much, even coming out of her shell, and has become the most devoted and loving dog I have yet to set eyes upon.

Roman, my second, is a sweet as pie love bug. He lives to cuddle with anyone who will give him the chance. He's beautiful, sweet, and everything a pitbull should be.

German Shepherds and pitbulls, I've had both and they are excellent dogs.I have a 5 year old daughter and a 4 month old son and I had two german shepherds who loved them dearly.I had to get rid of them sadly because of a cross country move and I miss them terribly.I would like to get another pitbull but my husband has a fear of them like most of the country but I love them, if they are properly trained and know who's the master they are loyal, courageous, and have a great love for their family. They are also excellent watchdogs. When my children get older I plan on getting one because I don't think it's a breed for small children. Some breeds of dogs are just not acceptable for small children and ppl should always research about a breed of dog or any animal before getting one.
I think German Shepherds are better suited for families with smaller children, they have more patience and are more gentle. They still have to be well trained and socialized though. You don't want an 85 lb dog to knock over your children!

Dobermans.
They are tall and slender and elegant. They are regal and carry themselves well. They are loyal and excellent protectors.
Mine have been some of the best companions I have ever had.
Each has been somewhat different but each has a a distinct unique personality. They are loving dogs. They can be hard to handle and require lots of training and are not the best dog for everyone but in the right home they are great. For me they will always be my personal favorite.

Favorite type? hmm... I love big, dorky dogs! I have 2 of them and a yorkie. I prefer nerdy dogs, but have yet to find a good one in a small dog. If your question is favorite breed... I really don't know, there are so many to choose from. I've never had a pug before, but every one I've met seems soo cute! I guess it really depends on the dog, my favorite one right now is my oldest mutt, Elroy... his name says it all... he's such a nerd, but so sweet.

The Rough Collie or Shetland Sheepdog (aka Shelties).
- I currently have one Rough Collie and two Shetland Sheepdogs.

Collies are friendly, playful, great herding dogs, etc and have a beautiful coat.

I started liking Shelties because of Collies; they look like a miniature Collie (but are not). They have way more energy than Collies. And both make great pets for families with small children.

American Bulldog... though they aren't for everyone. They're loyal, tenacious, active, stubborn...lol, but smart, protective, and great with kids. They are a great source of entertainment, but also require being entertained with work or they can be destructive. I think they are the best for me and my kids.

Golder Retriever. Even though I've never had a dog, that's the kind I would want because they seem very loyal and friendly.
