Hi, I'm writing a newsletter for a domestic violence charity, and am needing some online pictures to liven it up. Problem: all the pictures i find online want payment for me to reproduce them. Does anyone know where i can get free online pictures? Thanks x

there are a bunch of places:
http://www.imageafter.com/images.php
http://yotophoto.com/

there's this article, with a bunch of sources:

But listen, if you're writing a newsletter on domestic violence chrity, that's a good cause, right?
What I would do is look up pictures you like in flickr (www.flickr.com, the best thing ever), and simply ask the people who've uploaded them for permission. Most of them are not proffessionals, and it's not a strictly commercial purpose, so I reckon they'll say yes, and all you'll have to do is credit them at the bottom.

You may try contacting the photographer and explain what you'd like to use the photo for. If you are a non-profit organization they may even be able to right it off as a donation. For a non commercial community service use they may even donate more pictures. Try asking once, you may be surprised.
