1. Click Start / Run
2. Type regedit and press enter.
3. Open the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder
4. Open the CLSID folder
5. Open the {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} folder
6. Open the ShellFolder folder
7. Change the "Attributes Data value from "40 01 00 20" to "50 01 00 20". Windows XP users rename this to "70 01 00 20".

Windows XP Users

Right click on the Recycle Bin desktop icon and click Explorer. With your Recycle Bin highlighted, click File and Rename.

All other Windows users

After performing the above steps you will be able to rename the icon like any other icon. Right click the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop and click Rename.

We cannot rename a Recycle Bin. It's one of the few folders that can't be renamed.

Why would you want to rename it? A recycle bin is a recycle bin!!

Right click the recycle bin icon and it will show you what can be done.

we cannot rename recycle bin.

for this you just have to change the name in windows directory
go to run command and type 'regedit'
then go to current sysytem, and change the name recycle bin to what you want, but dear be carefull this may cause problem to your computer, if you change with registry enteries, but do not worry, try it for fun,

right click on it then click properties... under the recycle bin tab there is the 'title' text box. change it.

I have NEVER heard of any way that you can rename that particular item

i don't think you can. But you can change the icon if that helps. Right click on empty desktop > then properties > select Desktop from tab menu > then select the - customize desktop button
