I know this docent answer your question but i would like to say
that when i was young credit cards were unknown.
If you wanted something on tick,as it was called,we just went to a store and told them what we wanted, they assessed you by the way you looked and maybe a months wage slips and that was it.
Credit cards are a curse to society, getting and putting young
and old in mountins of debt. Now we have to have a credit rating.

Go here: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

You do not need to have a credit card to have a credit history, but you do need a financial history of some kind (utility bills, usually) to have any information or a score.
