My cat is neutered since last tuesday. He's 7 motnhs old.

I used to give him food for kitten (dry food from Purina One).
I know there are food design for neutered cat. Should I give him that now, or can he still eat the kitty food and then (when the box will be empty) can I switch with adult food ?

Give the Hill's back to the vet. It is a very poor quality food which vets push because they make money on it and it the most expensive of the poor quality foods ($2.05) per lb.

A male kitten or cat needs a diet of at least 50% canned food and 50% dry if you must. Your young man does not need "kitten" food if you give him a high quality food such as Eagle Pack, Solid Gold, Natural Balance, Innova, Felidae. Felidae is comparable in price to the Hill's stuff. These foods have their first two ingredients from high quality meat protein - the cat's natural diet. Grocery store foods and Science Diet are 2/3 corn and not nutritionally good for your cat.

If you feed your male cat these poor quality foods you will end up with a cat with urinary problems in the next few years and spend mucho $$$ to have him treated by that vet who so generously offered you the poor food and did not tell you about the necessity for wet food, especially in a male cat.

Ideally you would want to keep them on kitten food for the first year. When you do switch his food use an Iams or Science diet food. Because your cat is a male you will want to look at the ingredients. Why, it is healthier for male cats to have a diet that is low in ash and hard minerals. If you read the ingredients you will find that food that contains fish will have a higher ash content then one containing chicken. Ask your vet and he can give you some suggestions as well.

You should feed kitten food until at least one year of age. I have never seen a food designed for neutered cats?

Keep him on kitten food till he's a year old and then transition to regular cat foot. Call your vet or local humane society for more information.

I have never heard of a special food for a neutered cat......He is still just a cat...so I would imagine that whatever food he likes is fine to feed him.

When my husband got neutered...I didnt give him any special food....well....he got icecream that day..but after that....he just ate regular food.

Stick with the Hill's, kitten formula. I know it costs more, but I feed it to my cat and he's very happy and healthy. When he turns 1 you can give him adult formula.
