Pup = Potentially Unwanted Programme, sometimes needed to run the programme that you have installed.

Personally I am so so dubious about the inclusion of a 'pup' that if you have to run disk cleaner then allow your security to quarantine/delete pup - better still uninstall it altogether and restore your PC to before you downloaded it.

A "PUP" is a hidden program within the program that you want to install. however, the hidden program is is normally an unwanted program called mal-ware and you are required to install that mal-ware before you can use the program that you actually wanted.

eg, I want bearshare. but I got to install this "weather" program before I can use bearshare.
