dont make it a big issue when he says it. My 3 yr old said the same word and the way I got him out of it was to totally ignore that he said it. Kids like the attention and when people react he likes the reaction because of the attention. So, just act like he said something totally different and ignore it and then it wont be an important word to him and he will stop.

Oh my God, I feel your pain. My baby cousin is doing the same thing! It drives everyone crazy especially his dad (he's a pastor). All i can say is find a word that he will be intrested in saying. Fast. At least that's what my aunt says. Eventually they will forget the umm, unwanted word and change to a different and hopefully, more uhh, wanted word.... Good Luck! Sorry I'm not much help....

JUst try teading him other words and don't make a big deal out of it. He is learning that when he says it you get excited and he gets extra attention. So of course he is going to keep doing it. When he say it, talk very quietly, tell him no and just act like its not a big deal. You may get awful looks from people, but if they are parents, then they understand what your going through. It's just a phase and it will pass. Good Luck !!!!

The best thing to do is to ignore what he is saying, cause the more attention you give it , the more he will say it. Eventually he will forget all about it and stop saying it, if that doesn't work try telling him that , it is a bad word and that we dont say bad words or even teach him a word that sounds similar to the bad word he is saying. hope this helps --- mother of five

Honestly my oldest's first word was sh**. you can't make that into truck! I just ignored him, don't react. Reacting in any way makes your baby think he is doing something right. And he is, he is talking, but just not using appropraite words. Just explain to friends what is going on, and ask themnot to react. Soon he will get tired of this and find a new word. It took my son less than 3 days to get tired of his word, and as for strangers, who really cares, they don't know the situation, and it isn't their child. Good luck!

LOL. My son has been doing the very same thing. Only he's repeating words he hears from his father when he visits with him. Whenever I hear my son say F**K it, which he has taken to saying when he gets frustrated, I say after I hear him, that it's not a nice thing to say, but when he's feeling angry he can say Ah Man. That's usually all the reminder I need for him. But he always says it after having been to visit his dad.

Ignore him when he says it...even if everybody else gets nuts.
Continue talking and reading to him and the word will go away.

Just don't make a big deal about it and he will forget it. Especially if it is not usually said around him.

Put pepper sauce on his tongue every time he says it!!!
Ordinarily, I wouldn't suggest that but profanity is so trashy especially when children are the ones doing it! People WILL look down on him and the family if he continues.
