I was just wondering how people felt. I think in one aspect its great that someone wants to help these people, but to SELL it on ebay, these letter were supposed to be confidential (they were addressed to a minister), isnt it illegal to open someone elses mail.. much less sell it....

a very sad situation but wonder why the minister of the Church couldn't do something about this. what bothers me the most is the confidentiality issue along with others being hurt if the information fell into the wrong hands.

selling these letters on e - bay might cause great personal trauma and harm to those involved. in my opinion these letters should not be sold but prayed over and then either shredded or burned.

a legal issue may be involved here depending on the laws rules and mores of the state.

Yeah I read that earlier.
I feel bad for those people. They sent personal things to a church in hopes that they would get people to pray for them, and instead the letters were dumped into the water unopened.
I think it could go either way. The Christian philosophy is that the more people that pray, the more likely it is that it'll be answered. That's why there are prayer groups and whatnot. So maybe these people would want others to read their stories and pray for them... but I know that if someone sold a letter like that from me on ebay, I'd be pissed.

That is so sad! So sad...

But no one knows if the letters weren't prayed over. The thought of praying over them without opening them to intrude on the people's thoughts is a valid one. This sounds like someone cleaning the house of a deceased person and feeling they should commend the letters to the sea...

Kind of like throwing the letters to God. To sell them is abominable.

I just read this article and was going to post this same question. I think it is horrid that this man is going to sell these letters. Why wouldnt he just take them to a church, the way they were intended to be. I think that it is sick that this man is hoping to benefit from others in this way.

I think he should have given them to a minister or priest...selling them is just nasty...some folks will do anything for money.
