I don't know what gets to me more. The fact that none of the letters were opened, or that the person who found them wants to sell them on Ebay. Ok, the Ebay thing gets to me more.

If you found letters to God from so many people, what would you do? Honestly, I"d burn them. NOt from hate, but because in many cultures and religions, burning items sends the prayers and wishes up to the heavens, symbolically in the smoke. It would be nice to send the letters to God, where they were meant to go.

What would you do?

Wow, selling them on Ebay is an abomination. Those letters were not meant to be read - they were to be held in a sacred trust on the church's altar. They are prayer requests.

The person that found them in the ocean is exploiting the authors of those letters and is really SICK! To bad the person trying to dispose of them didn't think to burn them.

I have not heard about these letters God is real so by doing anything to them wouldn't this be a Federal advice mail tampering what does the post office do with all the letters to Santa Claus maybe they should be returned address unknown
Maybe each one of these letters the person prayer has already been answered if someone wanted to do something they could find each one of these people that wrote these letter and ask if God has answered there prayer now i don't think God would answer any that wasn't in his will like winning the lottery but you never know. I do not think they should be burned they should be returned to the person who wrote it or there next of kin this letter could mean a lot to them

At first, I was thinking "don't open them!" But then I thought they need to take them to the church and have a minister/priest pray for each of them. Things don't happen without a reason - God wanted those letters found. Maybe there was one person that needed prayer, and that was the only way God could get someone to do it.....

Selling them on ebay is pathetic, though...

I read the story and feel the same way. What would I do? Good question. I guess I'd look at them and pray for the listed needs, even though they were old, I think prayer would help. I would destroy them .
I would never sell them... this is sick and an invasion of privacy. I don't think that really the news story should have been run. I wouldn't have gone into detail on what was found.

I agree. The YAHOO article was interesting, but at the same time, sad. It's terrible that people can't respect other people's privacy, wishes, or emotions. It's literally sickening that someone wants to earn money from them on EBAY. Money is the root of all evil. I'm with you on the whole burning of the letters and sending them to Heaven. Especially since some of them were dated back to the 1970's and unopened. It's time they are unveiled to God....Bless you!!!

Wow.

What a story. As far as whether or not the letters should be forwarded to God in the form of smoke, that doesn't matter. He knows about them. However, I do agree that they should be burned or shredded out of respect for their privacy.

But, I don't know, maybe God has a plan regarding one or all of the letters.

Anyway, thanks for the link.

That is not the way to communicate with God.. They shouldnt have wrote those letters, but should have prayed to God.. I remembered a Spongebob Squarepants episode.. He sent letters to Santa and all those letter popped on the ocean.. Maybe, thats what happened..

My heart says that selling these letters - some so heartfelt and heartbreaking and personal - is wrong.
I wonder how much he's up to? If I could afford it, I would buy them, pray over them and burn them.

What would people do if they found thousands of letters from Children addressed to Santa Claus?

Most people would establish a committee to get busy and answer them to maintain the children's faith.

I think they should be answered.

I'd cry.

Why are people writing LETTERS to an all-knowing entity? What the heck is the point? All that wasted time writing a letter to an invisible sky-daddy could be better spent learning, playing, discovering, doing something useful to society, etc.
