Firstly, be strong; take courage. Continue reading the Bible; avoid reading ghost stories.

If, however, your reading the Bible in front of your mom causes friction, do it out of her sight. After all, God has called us to peace.

Don't feel guilty doing the right thing.

In my opinion, which I feel is unique, thank you, I think your mom might have issues of her own with the bible. You don't give enough info, so it's only a hunch, but I think that she is feeling a bit guilty about her faith and beliefs. Kinda like out of sight, out of mind. As long as she doesn't see the bible, etc, then she can put off her decision to believe or not to believe. By reading your bible, you bring the issue to a front. Please continue, perhaps you seeking knowlege from the bible will perk her interest and open up a way to discuss it. GOOD LUCK !!

It is a shame your mother is not supporting you in your quest for spirituality.

Don't feel guilty for reading the bible, it has some great things to say. It's a great thing to follow. Love thy neighbor. Forgive people. What's wrong with that?

Show your mum this answer. She shouldn't mind you trying to find out about things. It's good to question it's a sign of intelligence and you sound like you have a questioning mind.

She is probably concerned that you will throw yourself into religion and lose touch with the people around you, but for some people, religion is a great way to meet people and find support.

Or maybe she doesn't believe herself and thinks it's a bit of a fairy tale. I have to to say I don't believe in God myself, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't.

Anyway, reading any book is good for you, helps you improve your language skills and spelling.

If you don't feel you can talk to your mum about it, talk to someone else about being a christian, a teacher or a really good friend. If they are a good friend or a good teacher they should be able to help you.

Good luck anyway, if you have any more questions ask away.

Don't let your mom pressure you. My mom is exactly the opposite, she pressures me to read the bible and only the bible, (I'm a christian myself,) but I enjoy lots of other books too. You are you, and if you want to read the bible, go right ahead. And don't feel guilty if you don't get the chance too, it's not your fault. You don't have to feel guilty. Good luck to you.

You definitely need to study the Bible. You have the truth there. Don't let her put guilt on you because you seek the truth. It is your decision. Could you ask her to read it too? I guess you can say maybe it isn't like the "old me" , but it is the new me.

Sounds like you live at two houses, so when at your mom's maybe you can get a book of inspiration that isn't so scary to your mom. Check with your local church to get into a group to study the bible and they can give you other material to read. You'll be fine as long as you are respectful of your mom.

Try not let anyone whip the guilt trip on you, do what you think is right and don't dance to other peoples tunes. This is your life and you only got a one way ticket.

The Book says not to be showy like hypocritcal people. But when
we go to God in prayer. Go to Him in secret, and He will reward us openly.
Maybe that will help you. Keep it to yourself for now. And when
your mother sees the change in you, she might overcome her
own bad feelings about religion.

You should go ahead and read the Bible in front of your Mom regurdless of what your Mom thinks. At least it shows her you're willing to learn about God and trying to be a good person by following God's laws written in the Bible. Your Mom needs to understand this. Please don't feel guilty. Never worry about what other people think because of what you choose to do. Do what you feel is right and if people don't accept it, that's their problem. God loves you and you're His child. Go ahead and read it and your Mom's house. Don't feel bad....

It is good to read the Bible but I don`t think we have to do it in front of others. But you don`t need to be afraid of what your mum thinks.
