I just answered a similar question where I stated the Romans killed Jesus. I was surprised to find a quick 3 thumbs down obviously by Christians.
Are Christians truly that ignorant on their own religion?

genious: a mob of people, of any ethnicity, cannot be considered an official representative of that community. As a Roman official, Pilote can be. you are wrong. thanks

It's a point of theology.
Yes, of course Christians know that the Roman soldiers actually nailed Jesus to the cross. But Pilate handed down the death sentence, was it he? And the Pharisees demanded Jesus' death of Pilate, stating that "Ceasar was their king." Ha. Was it they?
Was it my sin that killed Jesus? (like I've heard many say) God? Wasn't He in ultimate control?
What did Jesus say....He said, "I lay down my own life. No one takes it from me."
Does that explain your concern about Christian's knowlege of their own faith?

The Romans killed Jesus.
By the way, I noticed quite a few Muslim postings claiming the Jews killed Jesus (not true) because he was not circumcised (not true either). So the thumbs down could have come from Muslims as well.....

Jesus own people killed him the Jews because they were afraid that he was going to take there position of priest hood away from them .and it sacred them. ya they put him on the cross yes but they are not the ones that went after him and were not afraid of him for pointus pilate said that he could not find no fault in him read matt 27: 1-27 it will explain it . and no Christians ant ignorant of there own religion its people that don't understand it they look at it carnally and not spiritually for of an example read john 3:I-21. hope this helps . may the peace of the lord be with you .

They are quite aware of their religion. As they are taught Pontious Pilot (really don't know how to spell it) attempted to convince the Jews to allow Jesus' release by telling them they must release Barabous (a known murderer) or Jesus, and that in order to maintain order in the Roman province he released Barabous and crucified Jesus at the demand of the Jews. The Jews were the ones to bring Jesus under arrest in the first place. So the Christians giving you the thumbs down are correct, and in fact there is record of this event in actual history, not just the Bible. Now whether or not a "God" was killed is the real debate.

The Jews ordered it must be done. Various Romans such as Pilate didn't want to. Jesus was not a threat to them but he was to the Jewish leaders who tried to eradicate him during his entire ministry. So the Romans did the Jews' dirty work since they were the government of the time and it was a public decision. Crucifixition was the common method of death for the Romans.
Anyone who doesn't know that needs to go back and read their Bible alot more carefully.

Romans and Jewish people die kill JESUS but JESUS did go for our sins. He had to die so that we can Live with HIM forever. So in realty we killed JESUS because of our sins.
Please do not put all Christians in the same boat. There are some like me out there that want to talk about our faith with Respect to others faiths too.

Jesus laid His life down - He gave it willingly. To say that the Jews killed Jesus is a truth - but very minor in that they were the instruments used on this earth to bring about God's purpose.

The best clue toward determining who killed Jesus is the mode of Jesus' death—by crucifixion. In Jesus' time crucifixion was a Roman punishment inflicted mainly on slaves and revolutionaries. The usual Jewish mode of execution was stoning, as in the case of Stephen (see Acts 7:54-60). Crucifixion was a cruel and public way to die. As a public punishment, it was meant to shame the one being executed and to deter the onlookers from doing what he had done.
The official who had the power to execute Jesus by crucifixion was the Roman governor or prefect. In Jesus' time the prefect was Pontius Pilate, who held that position between a.d. 26 and 36. Jesus was put to death "under Pontius Pilate" around a.d. 30. Although the Gospels present Pilate as indecisive and somewhat concerned for justice in Jesus' case, the Alexandrian Jewish writer Philo (a contemporary of Jesus) described him as "inflexible, merciless, and obstinate."

The Sanhedrin had Jesus killed under false charges of sedition.
The Sanhedrin rioted the Jews against Jesus and got the Romans to do their dirty work. Basically, it's that simple
