If my hair stylist has done a wonderful job, and I'm more than satisfied with the way I look, I always leave a large tip as thanks. So if the bill is $30, I will give $40.

It depends on the shop you go to a normal hair salon in the mall will charge in upwards of $20 or more where a discount one could be $10 or $15. I always tip my hairdresser like I tip my waitresses about 15 to 20 percent. If however you go to a high end salon and have a shampoo girl shampoo your hair you should give her a dollar or two for her service.

It would be useful to know if you are a guy or a girl and which country you are in? Sounds like you are in the US?

In the UK I would normally tip the person who washes my hair about £1 or £2. The hairdresser £5.

A cheap cut is about £15 and a cut and blow dry in a more exclusive salon is around £50. You can pay around £200 for a cut and colour at somewhere like Tony and Guy!

I tip 20% in all serivce areas. Some years ago it went up from 15%. Most restaurants will tack on 18% (if you feel 20% is too high) but regardless I would stay around the 18-20 range.

I go to a high end salon, so it ends up costing quite a bit, tip included, but I was going to a great lady who owner her own little shop and it was $25 plus tip for cut.

As a hairdresser, I expect 20%, kinda like when you go out to eat. Your hairstylist is an educated person that invested in themself to go to school, and personalizing each cut, each color he/she does. Tip upon how you feel though. 20% is standard of a happy client. I sometimes recieve a lot more though, if a client is really happy with their hair. For a wash and cut... I charge $40, for wash/cut/blowdry I charge $50. That is pretty standard of a nice salon. Hope this helps!!!
