Again I ask this with real meaning and do not mean to upset anyone, it's something that occured to me when I was younger, now I am an atheist.

If God is a forgiving God, and is the ultimate forgiver, a supreme being who can look into the hearts and minds of us all and see us for who we turely are, then why would he not forgive someone who doesn't believe in him? Or someone not of his faith or anyone for anything even if they do not turn to Christianity in their lives?

Let us say that I remain an athiest for the rest of my life. Not through choice but because I just don't believe as I have written in another question and to say other wise or to pretend to believe would be a lie. Then I die and lo and behold there is God waiting on the other side. I could then say "You do exist! Tell me why I didn't believe?" As the all knowing person he/she is with ultimate forgiveness wouldn't he forgive me? I believe I would if I were God and I'm not as great as he is.

Soldier of GOD - That isn't an answer. If all you can do is fixate on the fact that I am an athiest we're not going to get very far.

lisa! - Hello. You'll have to see one of previous answers to hear more of what I say, but I don't feel I've made a choice about this. I'm very honest with myself and everyone else. I've looked deep within me and I just don't believe. To go to church would be a lie on my part. I was an alter boy, a chorister, I've sung in many church choirs in many chathedrals. But I just don't believe.

Oh, and who do I think created us? I was trained as a mathematician. I believe we are the result of random chance. The evolution of billions of years. That we exist is a matter of probability and nothing to do with a divine hand.

Once again I stress that I am not trying to bait anyone, I'm trying to understand. If God created me, then he gave me the brain to question with and I have to use it. So if he exists then he must know that I will question his existence. If he doesn't then I'm questioning anyway.

Sorry, people most of you on here are not answering my question. You are just telling me to turn to God and be forgiven. Does my question not make you happy that someone is asking about God's love? I'm not going to blindly turn to something, which I don't believe in, and ask to be forgiven. There is no sense in that.

That would be like asking the tooth fairy to return my teeth or father Christmas to bring me presents. Or asking the world to be flat when I know it is round.

For any children out there, the tooth fairy and Father Chirstmas do exist, but they doen't come to adults.

Come on, treat my question as if it's real. I'm asking a deeply spiritual question here about God and forgiveness. Can someone answer it for me please.

So let me see if I've got this straight. What people seem to be saying is that is life is a sort of test. That if you have heard of God and deny him then you don't go to heaven?

I'll put this as another question I think.

You ask a good question, and one that is misunderstood by a large portion of the Christian world. There are good people in all faiths, countries, lands, etc... I believe some are closer to the truth than others, and some are way off in lala land. But as long as their focused on their beliefs, they try to be good people, they are a positive influence on society; they will have their just reward. If you never believe in God, or you never had a chance to hear about God (if you lived in some small country with no TV and no radio or outside visitors), then why wouldn't you get the chance to hear about God later (after death)? Everyone will have a chance to hear about God, to accept his teachings, or to deny them. Whether it’s in this life or the next. The true test is while on this earth, if you have had a chance and believed and then denied your belief, you are screwed. If you never believed, you will have to accept God after death, which isn't a sure thing. We will carry our personality with us into the next life. Some will still deny God even after death. Search your heart while on earth. There is truth out there. If you never find it, just be a good person and contribute positively to those around you. Forgiveness is nothing to God, almost all sins are forgivable. What will be determined in the end is where your glory lies. In Gods house are many mansions, not all in Beverly Hills, some are in the slums, which do you want to live in? Remember, there is not just one degree of glory in heaven, there are three. Each determined by your worthiness. We all will go to heaven; we just won't all be in the same neighborhood. Also, it’s not just about accepting Jesus. You also have to do good things. Just saying you follow Jesus and actually following are two separate things.

You bring up a very good point. GOD does forgive. But HE also does know what your heart is. After you die and you ask your question about why you didn't believe. Would you want to be in heaven after you hear all the different chance GOD gave you to believe. That is was your own self that stopped you from believing.

Please do not get me wrong, I am glad you are looking and being respectful to people with your questions but do not take to long to come to believe since after you die then it is to late.

You don't need to see it to believe it! you should have your faith in him. And if you know that there is a God you should follow him, but you should not ignore it and stay an athiest. Being an Athiest will get you no where!! Im a christian, and you should really go to church, it will make your life a lot better. Who do u think created u if u dont believe in him??

we have different beliefs and i do respect of others belief. i have also a friend non believers an atheist. we talked a lot about how god exist and is god forgives, if so in what manner or way god forgives, its a long debate and exchanging of opinions. as i told him and i will repeat this to you. based on the bible itself god is giving a chance to those who doesnt believe, to those criminals but there were always exception to the rule. in due of dying person, god is watching and waiting for the a person to ask forgiveness, just say forgive me, thou shalt be done. its your opinon and belief, as you said since you were young, something occured from you and thats the reason you became an atheist. o cant blame you. there are reasons why the religions was divided into so many groups and sects. for one was the upbringing from the family itself, conversion of religions, we cant deny it, the way of demonstrating on worshipping idols made of woods (this represent the images of all saints) which some sects of religion condemned this kind of praising the idols. if you said christianity its a wide range of non denomination of religions. it involves protestant, iglesia ni kristo. jesus the shepard, jesus is our lord just to name a few, but still in times of bible sharing all these denomination share and contributes their knowledge pertaining to gods words. we discussed also the faith, theres nothing wrong which you choose and how, what faith you have, as i said the respects still remains. as long as you faith beholds you no one can question on that part. of course above all nobody is greater than him God. dont pretend you believe, its understandable, its your choice and beliefs. its only your doubt of believing in him and you want proof. even you dont believe in him, you are already forgiven. i respect every religions, their beliefs and sanctuary of worshippings God. amen

Repentance is very important for forgiveness to take place. You have to accept your fault and then be willing to freely forgive others too. So if you dont believe in God how do expect forgiveness. You do have to take the first step, Get to know him. He's our creator, have an open heart about why people do believe in him then God would be willing to forgive you and draw closer to u

If you've harm or indignant a individual, you then need to make amends to that individual. confessing isn't adequate. Repenting manner resolving to do what you'll be able to to fix the harm, if any, and on no account repeat the offense once more. After that, all you'll be able to do is forgive your self. Beating up on your self does no well for you or someone else.

Well, bless your heart. You can not "not" choose to not believe in God. (Did I say that right?)
You can think, type, formulate a question-you have no excuse. Read Romans 1. Start in v 18. Its only about 14 verses. I believe that says that you are "without excuse". Now you can rationalize all you want. But in the end all you are doing is telling yourself "rational lies" (rationalize). Think about it friend.

Psalm 86:5 (Whole Chapter)
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee

The key word is to ask for forgiveness.

James 4:2 (Whole Chapter)
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

If you dont ask God (the father, the son, and the Holy Ghost) then you will not be forgiven.
When you ask for forgiveness or anything remember to ask in the name of Jesus because there is power in His name.
John 16:23 (Whole Chapter)
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it

Forgive me Lord for I have sinned. Come unto my life and save me, deliver me from all my sins. Lord do this for me and I will serve you and bless your holy name for the rest of my life. These things I ask in Jesus name Amen.
