when you are depressed you go into a withdrawal state
you do not enjoy doing anything
the medication levels you off or improves your mood so that you can function within the activities of daily life and cope therefore you eat properly when you are on them

Weight loss, not feeling hungry, and aversions to food can all happen if you are depressed. The medicine was helping your depression, therefore alleviating some of the symptoms that go along with it. Talk to your Dr. Are you still having other symptoms of depression? I'm not sure why you went off the meds, but consider going back on them.

I used to be on mild anti-depressants, I won't pretend I was thin to start with but I was ok, now my weight has ballooned & I can't slim down again for love nor money.

For you it sounds like the medicine was keeping some other problems at bay so that you had a normal attitude towards food, because having no apetite & wanting to be sick (bulimia?) isn't healthy.

Go back to your doctor & explain all of this & he might be able to advise counselling along with the medication, don't leave it untreated, it may get worse.
