If I didn’t like a black person because they were black, I’d a racist.

But I don’t like really religious people because they are religious – so what’s that? I don’t mind if someone is kind of religious or they do ‘good’ to get into heaven etc, but when people believe in texts written 700-1000 years ago really annoys me.

Everyone knows the difference between right and wrong – well every ‘well rounded individual’ - but believing that your religious text is ‘The Word of God’ is being stupid. Has any really religious person every thought that the Holy Bible may have been altered (it has, but have you ever considered it?) to suit the Status Quo of that particular time.

Like Easter is a Roman holiday of fertility, that’s why you have the rabbits and eggs. And Christmas, that was some holiday where you just gave gifts in honour of some random god

What about the Qur’an – that wasn’t written down for several hundred years – PEOPLE JUST LEARNT IT WORD FOR WORD, and passed the stoy on

Please - i dont want to cause offence or anything.

Just want to know what i am called - other than a Gentile, heathen or infidel.

I consider my self a – ‘person of the books’- every religion (more so with Islam) has quite practical answers and good teachings.

But that can all be ruined by believing the things people have changed in these books.

Like if someone gets 40 virgins, I only want one, can she become a Virgin after each session (like for 40 attampts) – come on, what do the women get – peace and quite and not having to give sex when its demanded ?

Oh, BTW, I’m 'mindful' of God in most things I do.

I have no desire to stand, sit, stand, kneel, sit, stand, eat, stand, kneel or whatever you lemmings do in church.

An open field, or a rammed out train - if I have something to say to God I’ll say it there and then - he'll never; turn you away or not listen to you.

I do not need to confess to anyone but myself, if I have done wrong i make it up until I am satisfied I have righted my wrongs - saying sorry is more important than a few Our Father....

Ignore the insults. You did say you did not want to offend anyone.

You are an Atheist who gets exasperated by people who bang on about their religion. What they believe in is their own affair as long as they do not try to impose it on others. If it helps them to lead a good life, be generous and law abiding that is fine. If they find comfort, reassurance and sound advice in their faith, or their holy texts, that is OK too. For instance Jews have meticulous food keeping rules and do not eat pork because in antiquity their wise men realised that this could prevent certain diseases. The ten commandments are based on sound moral principles. People are entitled to have their own creeds and celebrations, even if though these may have evolved from obscure origins and have nothing to do with reality, just as you are entitled to be sceptical about them.

Morality and good exist outside religion. I have known some real "lay" saints in my time who did not believe in God but were models of rectitude and goodness.

I agree entirely. The bible is a product of the lack of understanding and knowledge of where we come from. So certain people thru history have stood up and tried to write their version of what they think is the truth. Some caught on.... eg the bible and christianity.. and some are still evolving today eg scientology. At one point in history people worshipped the sun and the trees. All this stems down to the basic human thirst for knowledge and really and the end of the day no one really knows the truth and no one has ever seen a god! BTW a person like you is called a RATIONAL HUMAN BEING WHO HASNT BEEN AFFECTED BY THE UPBRINGING OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS. ie, the only reason a muslim is a muslim truthfully is cos thats whats hes been told told since day1. Same for most other religions.

It makes you a bigot.
A bigot is someone who is intolerant of other people because of their opinions or lifestyles.
Based on your writing skills, you might want to crack open an English "text" or two. There are even some published in this century; that way you wouldn't become annoyed at their age or anything. It might make you an improved, or perhaps even a "well rounded" writer.

I don't know how to define a person who dislikes religious people, but I believe that in this way you are just complicating your life. Ignore them. They have their belief and they could as well criticise you. If any of them gets in your way just tell them to leave you alone and to not try to convert you!

you could be a christian or a Muslim and still not like religious people, however I don't think you are. If you have read the bible with an open mind and or the Qumran and still have not been touched by the word of God I would say you are probably an atheist however if you have not read either and you just don"t believe in God's word then I would say you're probably just an idiot.

Do you know that you and Jesus have that in common. If you were to read the Bible you might find that the only people Jesus ever condemned in His ministry were the "religious". God wants our love first, there is nothing we can do - (religion) that is good enough for God so He came down and did it for us. By the way, everyone doesn't know right from wrong, the prisons are full of people who didn't.

You're a little stray sheep in a world of spoon-fed wolves and dinosaur remains. Why didn't god get the dinosaurs to write it anyways. T-rex had a good pair of writing hands.

Teleophobia: a strong fear of, dislike of, or aversion to definite plans or religious ceremony. So you could be considered teleophobic, no?

One negative question deserves a negative answer. Im not religious either but i certainly don't expect anyone to hear my views on it until asked. I would keep comments and views like that pretty much to yourself because it will cause hurt.

You are sensible.

Religious people are bewildered. deluded and insecure. They need a supernatural crutch to get through life.

Let them believe what they like, but when they start telling people that god (deliberate small 'g') will do this or that for them and they won't go to heaven if they don't believe, etc etc, it really makes me angry.
