My TV is an LG RZ-27LZ55 (http://www.pricegrabber.co.uk/search_techspecs_full.php/masterid=22362714) and i want to buy and use panasonics EMR-EZ25 DVD recorder (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140047923852), which has the ability to upsacle DVD's via HDMI, however my TV has no HDMI slot, only a DVI connection, which as far as im aware is designed for computers as it doenst transmit sound.
Any advice or explanantions that can help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I believe the fact that the tv only has dvi and not hdmi makes it hd compatible not fully hd ready, I beleive you should be able to connect using rgb component video leads and benifit from hd pictures from the dvd player,

The good thing with upscaling on the DVD player is that the signal will be entirely digital. However you'll need a HDMI-to-DVI cable. The easiest solution would be just to connect a DVD player via Scart... Considering that since you have an HD-ready TV you'll want to upgrade to an HD DVD player at some point, so you don't want to go wasting loads of money...

HDMI and DVI are the same thing, you can get cable adapters to convert from one to the other. With DVI, you have to add an audio connection separately. The more important issue is HDCP (copy protection) compliance. The upconverted output will not work unless your TV set has HDCP compliance--check the manual or call the manufacturer.

I checked your TV specs, and it says nothing about HDCP, so this is not a good sign, but you should check with the manufacturer to be sure.

The DVD player outputs up-converted signals on HDMI only, if you use component cables you get 480p only.
