Sure.
You are absolutely right.
There is not one single doubt about it.
So...
I would recommend that you get right back to the old way
of living right away. Please waste no time debating the pros and cons of casting aside all the improvements man has made over the years. Cast all of them aside.
Purchase a shovel. Go outside and dig a hole each time you need to urinate or deficate. Fill the hole back up, nice and tidy like. Toilet paper is a modern invention,
so you will hae to use a rag to clean up...Wash it in the creek when you get time.
Go in the house and walk over to the Power Box. Reach up and pull the main circuit breaker or main fuse to shut off all electricity to your house. They didn't have electricity in the old times. When this is completed, go
outside and shut off the City Water pipe feeding into your house. They didn't have piped in fresh water in old times.
Take all that frozen food, packaged food, canned food, dried food, and candy and throw it in the garbage. They didn't have any of that stuff in the old times.
Now you can begin with a clean slate.
What would you like to do today?
Do some planning for your work schedule, your meal
planning, wood for a cooking fire, etc. Hmm-m Good Idea.

Nope , our work is not all futile. Happiness is being a success to ourselves and our fellow men and women. I feel good about myself, almost always because I am doing things to improve the world. My wife and I meet people and cheer up their lives at our passing. We take people to the airport, even at 4:30 am in the morning. We pick people up. We help people move. We give people small items as gifs just to brighten up their lives. We both worked hard giving our employers the best we had. We are now retired. We and hundreds like us give our time and energy at the beautiful Botonical gardens making a beautiful place on earth to visit. I don't need the olden world. This life is good enough for me. I wouldn't like to hitch up a horse to a small wagon to go to the grocery store, have to clean up the crap that he put in the parking space and haul the dried goods back to the house because we don't have a refrigerator. It used to take the wife of the house many hours to prepare meals, nearly 1/3 of the work day was preparing meals. You can have your good old days. I am 71 years old and have lived in the most exciting times of the history of mankind. Even the good old days were filled with more war than we have today. When you visit Europe, all the oldest villages were built on hill tops surrounded by walls with people crowded together, even though there was plenty of land to spread out. They had to do that to survive. There work was long and hard. They had to go down the hill to farm and bring the produce back up the hill. They lived in fear. The husband being killed, the women raped by invading armies. They fougt wars all the time. Nope, give me today for sure.

"The living word"?
Here's a little hint for living: all the spirituality in the world isn't going to help you when you're dead. When you reach the end of your days, you die, and that's it - you're over and done with. Whatever meaning your life is going to have you have to establish while you're still around. If you waste it on religious delusions, you've thrown away the most precious thing that there is.

If you dont believe in a time of reckoning...in a Creator or a life of eternity in the hereafter.
Youll think all this is futile..because eventually that means youre gonna die and thats the end of that.
I do shudder at the thought of such an end because it simply means that you or anyone could do all kinds of crap here and just get away with it when you die.

I do not see anything as futile. You can bring happiness to those
who need it by a simple, smile, hug,or even a encouraging word.
