Everyone who is not Chinese needs a visa to go to China. If you go out of China (including Hong kong, Macau, Taiwan which are kind of in china) you need to get a new visa. You also need to have a physical examination by a doctor to get that visa. Some people answered with some silly nonsense about what you need to bring to China--China has the same razors, condoms, etc, that the rest of the world has. Most western items can be found in China (and I'm in one of the poorer, less developed areas).
Also, I wouldn't worry about getting any special vaccinations to come here unless you are going to a rural area. However, your doctor would probably suggest a whole bunch of vaccinations because they cost a lot.

Just one visa is required for all of China. You do not need a visa for Hong Kong or Macau. You shourld really enjoy Guangzhou! Shenzhen and Hong Kong are just a short bus ride away and are also great places to shop and explore. If you will be crossing borders to other countries you can get a multi-entry visa. Always watch your wallet closely and bargain hard!!!

That would depend on your nationality...
You need to have a visa for entering China... Travel agency could arrange it for you. The minimum days to get a visa would be 3 to 5 working days. Fee are depend, if asking visa for rush time its somehow expensive than regular days. More or less 50 dollar. Approximately.

You need to apply for a visa, and the price ranges from about $25.00 up depending on the class of visa and the express service...take several photos...I think four. It is best to go to a consulate and will normally take a week...Express service is 24 hours. Other than prescription drugs, you can obtain anything here..cosmetics, etc. Prescription drugs are different because of the names but we have them. Even in many of the smaller cities, good medical care is available. I live in Southwest China and there is nothing that I can't obtain here.

Contact the Chinese consulate or embassy in the US for a visa (which you need). The shortest flight you can expect is about 13 hours from LA. If you don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese, you may want to stay in the big cities and then still you may need a guide if you go alone.

You need a visa for China. Contact the PRC consulate responsible for your place of residence, not the Embassy. Embassies deal with diplomatic issues, consulates with administrative matters such as visas.
