I heard on the tv about six weeks ago of a village in Italy where everyone of the inhabitants has the same surname. They are all married to someone with the same surname and in the little school there was no-one with any other surname. Unfortunately, I can't remember what it was called or what the surname was but it was on BBC Breakfast News so it will probably have it on their website.

Gorazdevac Kosovo. The whole village has 3000 people with the same surname Maksimovic!
And all the villages in Montenegro. There people still live in patriarchate. The entire cities are inhabited by only one, maybe two families. The sam thing is in Albania. Both countries are in Europe, but are considered to be very hostile towards outsiders!

just a wild guess but I'm thinking it Nguyen. Seems every other Vietnamese person has that last name. My company is huge and I can search the employee database and Nguyen is more prolific than Smith.
