They usually won't do radiation or chemo on a pregnant woman, it would be harmful to the baby. The Dr. will tell you what type of cancer you have and how long you can delay treatment while you continue your pregnancy. And be prepared, they sometimes ask you if you would terminate the pregnancy so you can immediately begin treatment. What most people do is continue with the pregnancy until the fetus is old enough to survive outside the womb, then they will induce labor or perform a c-section, so they can start your treatments. Good Luck to you and I'm so sorry you are having to face this during a time when you should be having only joy. Do lots of Internet research, and if the Dr. gives you options that you don't agree with, get a second opinion.

It really depends on what kind of cancer you have. If it's not as advanced and/or a less dangerous form of cancer, you may be able to wait until after the pregnancy comes to term before starting treatment. If not, you will probably have to terminate the pregnancy, as the baby won't survive chemo/radiation. Then, you can try for another baby after you're in remission. For something as serious as cancer, get second and third opinions before you make any decisions about either the treatment or your pregnancy. Good luck with everything.

There ARE types of chemo that can be given to a pregnant woman after the first trimester that WILL NOT HARM the baby.
I have been doing a lot of research on the internet, because my friend has breast cancer. I read this just the other day.

If you can't wait for the treatment, then take the risk and take the chemo and radiation. The baby may not live, but you will be alive to nuture and care for your family and to possibly live a full life. Throwing your life away for an unborn child is obscene and everyone that says you should ultimately sacrifice yourself has obviously been brainwashed by the ultra conservative beliefs. You are alive now.....do everything you can to fight for YOUR life, that way you do not leave another parentless child in this world, who feels guilty that because of them you did not survive. FIGHT THE CANCER ANYWAY YOU CAN! You will beat it and have the opportunites to raise a family. Best of luck to you!

The chemo will kill the baby. You can go ahead with chemo and lose the baby and try again later for another baby. Or you can wait for 6 months, finish your pregnancy and start chemo then(in 5-6 months).
Your choice. Which will you decide to do? Lose the baby? Or risk losing yourself to cancer if you wait 5 or 6 months? Talk to your mate..talk to your family..talk to your doctor. God Bless

poor you, i dont know much on this topic, but i was under the impression that they would not start chemo or radiation til the baby was born, i know that they will probably ask you to think about a termination if the cancer is advanced and delaying treatment would be dangerous for you,, if you decide to go ahead with the pregnancy they will probably deliver early
best of luck and god bless you : ) XXX

I am afraid if radiation and chemotherapy cannot be delayed, the fetus will abort. You do not say what type cancer. In in situ cancers of the cervix, I have recommended delay of treatment until baby can be delivered at a viable age.
