Ur not dense, just inquisitive. Never stop asking questions, no matter how trivial you may think they are! As you already know by the answers that have come before mine, that lol means laugh out loud! Plus you have been told many other variations. One that has been missed.....so far is: pmsl: peed myself laughing. Keep up the questions, that is the only way to find out what you want to know. Hope you always find a reason to LOL!!!!

It means : "Laughing Out Loud".
There are many people on chatlists who don't like the use of abbreviations, which is why I don't use any, other than just "LOL", cuz for me it's an easy way of telling you how I feel.
P.s. : and NO, you're not dense at all, IMHO!!
I'm Dutch, so when i joined English and American chatlists, I didn't know any of the abbreviations used there.
I just asked, and no-one thought I was dense, they were eager to tell me what they meant. (LOL, as are the people on here, see how many answers you've got already!)
