If you want lock entire drive then go to dos prompt
type LOCK C it will lock ur c: and UNLOCK C it will release the drive however this features was avaible upto winme only.

if u want to lock some file or folder jus go to dos and then
type ren oldfilename.extension oldfilename(Hold Alt key and then type any figure from 1-254).extension

it will lock ur file. to unlock reverse the procedure.

However till i rem. if partition is on FAT then this is supported NTFS does not support it. for NTFS u need to use Microsoft Locking for drive access (availble in services)

Hope that u will not lock ur ur any crucial file of OS

Ok now.. we need better info. Are you trying to make a folder Read Only? Inaccessable? or what?

Which OS do you use?

If Windows, which file system does the drive containing the folder use?

Is this for your current user account or all user accounts or some other user account than the current one?

Please provide this information in order for anyone here to be able to give you a useful answer.

Thanks.

Try right clicking a folder and chose encrypt.

But I think you need a Windows power toy to enable that.
