My hair right now is very dark brown. I want to get it back to the color it was when I was young but i'm sort of afraid to dye my hair. How do I know that i'm going to be happy with the color I choose? What shade do I need to get to a light brown color? Like honey brown almost..
Should I do it a step at a time?

Start with a temporary color
Use light brown or ash blonde
Start with a lighter shade than you are looking for and if it is too light you can easily go a shade darker

First of all, I do not recommend you try doing this yourself. It'll save you a lot of money if you have a professional do it right the first time rather than have them fix it after you tried it at home. A "wash in-wash out" color will not work if you are trying to lighten your hair. Most first-time attempts to lighten hair at home result in 'orangutan orange' hair. Not pretty. I would suggest subtle highlights added throughout to give your hair an overall lighter look. This is the most natural looking way to go lighter. Good luck!

use very light brown color with 6% hydrogen peroxide.keep the color for 30 minutes before u wash.

well first go to the shop and look and see what colour you want THEN do a wash in wash out colour first to see how it will effect your hair and whether thats really the colour you want. But remember every time you dye your hair it gets darker and darker therefore you are going to have to keep redying your hair every tome your roots start to show otherwise youl look likr curella devil (with two colours in your hair)
