I' m taking a course named ' Past , Present and Future of English' in university. Please comment the followings respectively. Thanks.

1. Discuss the claim that the tendency towards standardization
within English has usually been interrupted by tendencies
towards diversification.

2. Can English be considered as a truly global language?

3. Describe some of the ways people use English to achieve
certain goals.

4. What factors motivate an individual speaker to use different
varieties of English, or switch between English and another
language?

5. Is it possible to make a clear distinction between 'high' forms of
literary art such as poems and drama and 'popular' literary
forms such as advertisements and songs?

u should have asked indiv q's..more responses...will tackle what i can
1. Lang.s r continually evolving {due to discoveries & culture-ie slang} so diversification will allways superceed the standardisation
2. yes i think it can..spoken in more countries & influences more ppl than any other lang..even if not spoken..is understood by many
3. communication..err pass
4. some things are best said or only carry meaning when said in the alternate dialect/lang..translatd they don't carry the same meaning or invoke the same emotions
