No, I would suggest the 1972 VW Super Beetle. It's way better than the average common car you see everyone driving day in and day out..........booooring!

You do not say where you are, so my answer may not be of direct help to you.
I am based in the UK, and here the Phaeton is spectacularly unsuccessful from a sales point of view.
There are several reasons for this, but I believe that the main reason is that buyers spending this kind of money demand a badge which carries appropriate kudos, and VW just doesn't do it.
Also, the fuel consumption of the V12 engine is horrifying, and with gas here costing up to US$ 9 per gallon, you can see why there is no long line of buyers.
Furthermore, and largely as a result of the factors already outlined, depreciation is eye-watering, even for the (relatively) cheaper and more economical V6 and diesel options.
You can expect to lose at least 50-60% of the US$140,000 V12 price within moments of purchase.
There is no doubt about the quality and engineering of the car, but no-one could describe it as a sensible investment as a new vehicle.
However, a secondhand example with PROVEN service history and low miles might be a reasonable prospect at a suitably low price - but don't expect the depreciation to stop!
I hope this helps....

Go with the Audi A-8. As close to the same car as it gets but most want some type of name recognition and I'm sorry, I love VW with a passion. I just would not spend 70k +
for that passion.

NO. It's a nice looking car but still have the mechanical and electrical failures prone to VW/Audi. If your going German stick with the BMW
