Is a "measure" a unit of size like inch or yard?

ELIJAH WHEN HE CALLED DOWN FIRE FROM HEAVEN ON HIS BULL SACRIFICE.
HE HAD DUG A TRECN AHROUND THE ALTAR AND FILLED IT WITH WATER, THE TRENCH HELD AS MUCH WATER AS TWO MEASURES OF SEED. PROB 6 BUSHELS

HAD NOT RAINED IN 3 1/2 YEARS WAS VERY DRY---THIS WAS A LOT OF WATER.

Dear sunshinek,

i think the verse you are referring to is 1 Kings 18:32. Measures are units of measurement. According to my study bible 2 measures is about the equivalent of 5 galloons.

Maybe it has something to do with sex. They seldom speak of it in direct terms in the Bible.
