When you use an iron you have to make sure you compensate the loss of moisture in the hair. Get deep heating treatments once a month and get your hair cut every 4-6 weeks. Even if it is just a little bit cut off it will help with your hair and the way it looks and feels.

This is the safest way to straighten your hair. There are wonderful straighteners out there and they can make your hair feel great. You are putting a chemical on it though, so therefore not as safe as an iron.

Blow drying with a very large round brush or a paddle brush will help cut down on the damage. But you should still use a heat protectant because, over time, doing anything with heat is going to damage your hair. You should also be using a deep conditioning protein treatment at LEAST once or twice a week to keep the keratin bonds in the hair shafts strong. And, just so you know, if you already have split ends, no conditioner or hot oil treatment will help. You have to cut them off. GOOD LUCK!!

I have extremely curly hair. It's now cut short and in a bob style, but if you're not willing to go that route, then I suggest the CHI brand straightening iron. Using that with Bumble and Bumble "Does it All" spray will do the trick in regards to protection and a sleek style. Also, if you are going to straighten it all the time then use a leave in conditioner and hair mask it once a week. Good Luck! ;)

Get a ceramic straight iron and USE a straightening balm.

Also, never use a straight iron when the hair is wet...only when it is dry.
