Well, I had symptoms for 25 years before I was diagnosed. I think you just cope because that's all you nkow. Some cope better than others with the damage it causes. However, once I was diagnosed, I had trouble coping with the diagnosis of a mental illness. That took a long time to come to terms with.

Hi. Yes, I have sufered with bipolar now from about 10 years. At first it was awfull i was suicidal all the time tried to take my life on more than one occasion and had to be hospitalized several times, but with meds and therapy, friends and family I have come through the worst part of it alive. I still have my bad days and you will too but when you get those bad days you need to pick up the phone and call a friend or a family member. Please remember to never stop taking your meds. If you would like to talk more you can e-mail me at heartyangel98@yahoo.com

My dad is bipolar but not to the point that he is dangerous, but he has finally found the right combination of mood stabilizers and anti-depressants. It often takes years to find the right method of treatment, unfortunately. Just don't give up and try to be patient, as hard as that may be. Also, some people with bipolar disorder love their mania too much to really get treatment, although you do not strike me as that type of person. Good luck!

i suffer from bi-polar also. it is tuff at times but if you find the right Dr, and the right meds you can live a very productive life. I went through 4 years ups and downs in life, let me tell you its not fun, but i found out through the years the more you learn about bi-polar illness the more you can live with it, if you don't understand the illness and just suffer the symptoms you can fall into the cycle of hell, try to research bi-polar as much as you can if you don't understand something ask your Dr. or someone, this has helped me. from my own experience i have found some Dr's just want to medicate you and send you down the line but when you start questioning them they tend to pay more attention to your mental health needs. everyday can be different high or low the more you understand you illness the easier it gets. e-mail me if you want, a good place to start is webmd

if you're bipolar, then you would have a mania state, in which you feel more high than normal days
when you're depressed, think about the reason that you're depressed and see if you can ignore the problems just like the days where you don't have a depression or in mania

Try gaining at least one more perspective to things. Think of things out of the ordinary. Give thanks for all that there is one thing at a time. Thank you for this hair brush, thank you for these earings. It shifts things around and balance can be obtained.
