Studley is 100% correct.

I too look at reports daily and have yet to see a criminal item such as a felony.

I often see traffic tickets, child support, tax levies but never a felony or criminal record.

They do have the right to report them though.

Now, stay out of trouble; you wont need your credit if you end up in prison. Life is too short for all that B.S!

Do Felonies Affect Your Credit?

King Midas is wrong unless it's a law only where he lives. Being a felon has nothing to do with your credit. It can effect you getting certain jobs, especially if it was a violent crime. I suggest paying everything off ASAP, and making your credit work for you. My brother is a Gulf War Vet (the 1st one ) came home from the Marines, got into trouble and is now a felon. No one cares what he's done for our country, or all of his experience before his time in the service. He's been working temp agencies for 2 years because no one will hire him on. Can't get his VA loans because he doesn't make enough money to pay them back. He's got excellent credit and is having the hardest time.
Good Luck. BTW--- I'm sure the government will find some kind of way to switch the laws around, they do a lot of things as punishment that don't make since. Like suspending you drivers license for no payment of child support. They'll take you license away for just about everything. Sooner or later they'll figure out a way to mess up your credit.

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://biturl.im/aUNCW

Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.

You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

a felony does not have anything to do with your credit. But it can affect you having a job. Keep paying your bills on time and everything should be good.

If you take a look at the Fair Credit Reporting Act, it does give them permission to place crime convictions on your credit report (for 7 years only).

I've seen a lot of credit reports and never saw this information ever reported, but I would assume that if you have "permissible purpose" like getting the report for employment information, those records could be included.

According to the FICO folks, criminal records are not a factor in calculating credit scores.

As long as the felony was not due to something financial that you have to pay back, you're okay.
