I mean they are both delicious, but what's with the size difference? Is it just tradition? Or is there actually a practical reason for the difference?

The difference between the two types of tortillas is easily explained. Flour tortillas are made by rolling out the dough "masa" and the corn ones are pressed both are made from uniform balls. The bigger the ball the bigger the tortilla, but the press is only so big and the machines cut them in a uniform size. The flour ones can be made bigger by rolling the ball of masa thinner. I can make corn tortillas from scratch with a press, but have trouble rolling out flour ones to the right thickness. The tortillas are the size they are for the purpose they serve it is traditional. I hope that I was some help.

lol yup! thats what i had for breakfast...most restaurants sell the big flour ones because they can sell em for more money but using corn tortillas is a great alternative when you've either ran out of flour tortillas or when you're trying to eat less, try using some butter on the frying pan

You couldn't make a burrito out of a corn tortilla - it would break if you tried to fold it. So what would you do with a large corn tortilla? I suppose you could make a giant taco, but the regular-sized corn tortillas make perfectly sized tacos for holding in your hand.

i think in the process of making corn tortillas if you make it the same size as a flour tortilla it would crack or wouldn't hold it shape since it so much grainer and not as moist as the tortilla.

corn tortillas are usually made for tacos and chips..that is why they are smaller than flour tortillas, which are used for burritos and other dishes,
