I have a sister that is 10 yrs older than me when i felt i couldn't go to mom with some things i would go to big sis. I was great to have an older sister she even came on a couple of field trips with me when i was in middle school all the boys in my class thought she was a hottie which earned me points in school lol On a serious note when my mom passed 7 yrs ago i don't have her to go to anymore and its good that i have an older sister that has experienced life so if i have any questions i can go to her for advice the age gap was never a problem your family is your family love them no matter what the age. The only advice i have is watch out when your younger son is high school age and has an older brother to buy beer for him and his buddies other than that they will be just as close as any siblings of less years apart.

To me it isn't. I wouldn't want to have kids so close in age. If you think that is a huge age gap my sister and little brother are 20 years apart in age (33 & 11)

I think it would be a bit hard having a small baby then a toddler at the same time. I would rather have one in school before i have another one.
Which my son is 5 in kindergarten and i am thinking about having another baby.
Good luck

My youngest brother is 8 yrs old I'm 26, My mom and I were pregnant at the same time and that was great, Its hard sometimes when he comes to spend the night because if he does something he's not supposed to I don't want to get on to him because he's my brother but at the same time he's just a little boy and has to be told when he's doing something wrong. Its definitely an experience but I love when he calls me just to "talk" I wouldn't trade it for the world. Good Luck!!

So what!!! the event has taken place and the result is expected shortly.
Now there is no scope to look back. It was probably ur decision. Now take care of the situation as it arrives.

Maybe u can tell ur son that "God wanted u to be brother of the new member in ur family". It is from now u have to do the talking to make him understand and share some responsibilities.

It's a pretty big gap, but there is nothing wrong with that. Both kids will be sort of like only children, but when they are older than can still be close. It's your family and your kids can be spaced however you want them to. If you want to have another baby, go for it. If you wait the gap will only get bigger.

No, each one of my boys are 5 years apart, so that makes my oldest and youngest 10 years apart. I think it's a great thing. My oldest son just adores his little brother. And of course my youngest and middle both worship my oldest. Plus the oldest can help out with his little brothers when I need him to.

Well, I have a younger brother who I'm seven years apart from and my eldest brother is ten year apart from him. He was more spoiled -obvioulsy- but the age didn't really effect us too much. My parents are sure tired of still having one in the house though!!! Now that he's 19, they are so over raising kids!!

My best friend is 12 and her mom has a 9 month old. Its weird, yes but it shouldn't be a problem. Just when your oldest will be in college your youngest will only be in first grade. But its 2x the kisses, 2x the love. You'll love it. Good luck!

Anna Nicole Smith's son was 20 years older than his mom's new baby. Too bad he ODd. Ben Franklin once said, "There are 3 things that never happen at a convenient time - death, paying taxes and having children." Enjoy your new baby.
