I’m making a blanket for a two year old. He is 2’5” and about 24 lbs. I want the blanket to be big enough to be used as he gets older, but I don’t want it to be to big.

How big should I make the blanket?

For his brothers (7 and two 5 year olds) I made them 60 x 80 (5’ x 6’8”), because I got one that size at five. I was thinking of just making his that size, instead of making a smaller one then making the bigger one in three years.

Make it at least 3' x 3'. That way he can be completely covered up with some room to wiggle but not get snuffed out.

Look, make it how big as you want, but all you have to do is just tuck it in so it won't be loose.. just like you tuck the sheets, tuck that blanket in because you want him to use it for until he's an adult, why do all that work just for a lil while when that can be used forever? just make sure you can tuck in around his torso so he can't pull it over his head but he'll still be warm.
