There are two aspects that causes the Blurring effect.

1. Video Compression due to Processor + RAM

2. Screen Resolution selected & Frame rate.

Many video convertors have default settings which actually alter the original movie file hence ending up in blurring the motions.

I use Xillisoft convertor which doesnt alter anything other than the Video size, which too you can override before encoding. You can use Cinepac or DivX codecs for this job.

But yes you need atleast 3Gig Processor and 1Gig RAM. anything above that will give you a crystal clear picture because you go for Multipass compression which reduces your file size and keeps movie quality intact.

Hope this helps..

convert to mpeg.

though no expert i found that with avi files with codecs like divx or xvid the blurring will happen on a slow machine (eg small ram memory, slow processor)
thats because of the compression of the video data i think
anyway i found that you can get good quality video by converting to mpeg format or vcd format (larger file)
or
get a better pc.
