i have been very swollen in the feet and legs for about the past year. nothing was found in my blood and urine tests to explain it. so i looked it up and came up with a good idea, lack of progesterone will cause weight gain, infertility, weakness, depression and swelling all of which i have. so i tried a progesterone cream, it works when i remember to take it everyday, now that i am mobile i am trying to lose weight but the pounds won't budge. i do 20-30 mins jogging, 10 minutes jump rope, and about 20 mins muscle building daily,i hardly have an appetite and obsess over eating very few cals and carbs, so i am very confused as to why it won't work, i am about 60 lbs overweight and desperate to feel better, and move faster. does anyone have a clue what might be the problem?? i used to be very healthy now idk.btw i am only 24.

Low carb diets give me the creeps. Whole grains should be the backbone of any healthy diet. 40-70 grams protein is best for the average adult. Make sure you're not missing any vitamins. Centrum Silver is a good supplement.

Warm ups are fine, but Its also best to not mix cardio work with weight training. Alternate cardio one day, then do a full body anaerobic the next. Get 8-9 hours uninterrupted sleep per night, and take one day out of the week for relaxation.

get a second opinion some dr.'s are limited ....too much fat in your diet as meat chicken fish dairy products are bad so try a high fiber low fat whole grain moderate fruit diet no sulfites and avoid simple carbs .... did they check for hemochromatosis that was the problem with me but instead of following the dr. I got a specialist and lost 80 lbs . Many symptoms vanished without chelation or blood letting and my thyroid was re-treated as well to excellent health .
that 2nd opinion is sometimes one's best resource !

Do you sit for long periods at a desk? In one of those comfy chairs designed for people who have to sit for long periods?

I make my living in that position, and I found that my feet would swell if I stayed in that position too long.

My solution was to get a folding chair with a padded seat...tolerable but not so comfortable that I can sit for hours in it without a break...and substitute it for the ultra-comfortable desk chair. It makes me get up and move around more, and that unpleasant symptom doesn't occur.

(Socks that are tight around the ankle may also cause some people's feet to swell.)
