We aren't forced to learn Spanish, however many Americans make the choice in learning the language for a variety of reasons. Among these are improving career opportunities, communicating with friends and family, being able to use the language in tourism, etc.

And no, not all of Spain speaks English.

When Americans learn a foreign language, Spanish is number one. They do not learn Castellano (Standard Spanish in Spain) but the Mexican variety, and ideally, learn the central Mexican accent (Mexico City).

Mexican vs. Castellano is a little like the differences between British Received Pronunciation (RP) vs. what you get in the US midwest.

English is superior in usage but espaniol is related to English.the pronunciation and accent is stronger than English.remember Americans don't have originality in culture so they have to create identity that may give them uniqueness and they choose espaniol to make their culture colorful.most of the Latinos there in America are espaniol.
