So I have a question to pose to the general public. My boyfriend & I were discussing "cheating" because of the show "6 Degrees" (which is fabulous by the way). In this show, there's a dirtbag who is cheating quite heavily on his fiancee. Anyway--I asked him how many of the male population he thought cheated on their significant others. He says 80%. This seems a little high to me, and VERY disturbing. Anyone else have any comment on that? Or know maybe what percentage it is??

I'm a man...I've never cheated on a lover in my life....but I've known the inner workings of men's hearts and let me tell you....I'm not (by any stretch of the imagination) an ordinary guy...He's right...about 80 percent of the men I meet either cheat, have cheated, or would cheat given the right opportunity.
The question isn't what percentage of men are cheating...the question is...."Is your man cheating?" the answer lies buried deep in your own heart. You don't have to catch him to know...you have to feel his heart and know it...

Remember that game show where the people had to guess whether the correct answer was higher or lower than 80% (as example)?
My guess is that it is lower. I would say 60% cheat and yes it is quite disturbing.
Another thought is that it depends on the persons morals. One who goes to church regularly may cheat less than one who goes to bars regularly.

maybe not 80% but very close. a lot of marriages go thru this i mean a lot. my family has been destoyed by cheating its sad but true. not only marriages but just relationships in general. some how the grass seems to always be greener on the other side until we get there

they say it is high for men, but women are slowly catching up to that figure.

I have been a bartender for 14 years.
Sad to say, I am not uneasy on the eyes and, I get phone numbers quite regularly from men with rings on their fingers.
I would have to agree with him.
The chivalrous gentlemen in this world are fading fast :-(

alot of men cheat and the sad thing is on here at night i see more women on here who have cheated asking questions, then i do men... I wonder which is worse the men or women??? That would be a good question for yahoo answers... :)

In this century (year 2006),is common in men and women to cheat. And in both, the percentage is high.Good question.

Who knows, I have met more women who cheat and support cheaters than men who do in my lifetime. 80% is way to high look it up on google I am sure the have statistics on it.

80% is way too high. I'd lean closer to 50-60% for both genders.

I don't think it's that high although I think alot do. Both women & men. Id say about 45%
