You must consider that in Iran this kind of story is unspeakable and unheard of! It is an abomination and not in any way a part of their culture and belief system! Islamic law has a clear punishment to those who perform abominable and heinous acts. In the US this is a very common thing because here it is considered the 'norm' and acceptable but not there. I lived in an Islamic country for two years and I can tell you that the people are always very closed about anything sexual. A person who acts out this openly is simply a non-conformist to society. It is the law of human nature and not much different from the Roman Empire or any other solid government to judge non-conformists and execute. Sorry to be so graphic about it but this is my opinion.

To answer your question first: no, it's brutal and awful. Some people are born gay and it's a bit gross but there's no need to hang them.
It reminds me of an argument I have sometimes with my girlfriend where I argue that religion is harmful and perverse and she argues that if it gives people comfort then it's a good thing. This proves my point that it's harmful and perverse.
And not only Islam but Christianity too. Islam is an easier target because it's harmful in more obvious ways, like the story you posted, and there are plenty of Islamic nutjobs around currently. But Christianity is just as bad, it's just more subtle. It's a way of brainwashing people and making them weak-minded; it's also anti-gay, anti-progress etc.
Well, okay a bit off topic there, but at least I did answer your question.

you're hateful posts about Islam just don't seem to stop.....
you've been answered on matters like this several times. no, in Islam this is not okay. there are many Muslims within and outside of these countries attempting to reform and speak out against this abuse of Islamic law.
**you ought to spend more time loving your own faith and being a good example of a Christian instead of showing so much hatred and ignorance
peace and blessings to all

I hadn't heard about this.
Man, this just isn't right. No way, no how.
The article said that under this law girls as young as nine years old and boys as young as fifteen can be hung.
This just isn't right.
I don't agree with the lifestyle. I think the gay lifestyle is a choice and its a wrong choice. But come on, these guys were just kids!

It's their country.
Some countries still feel that homosexuality is evil.
The bible says it is, and I feel sorry for anyone trapped in it's perverted web.
As a Christian, I believe it is sin, but my response is to try and reach them with the love of God and the truth of scripture, in hopes that they will repent.

Thank God for Christianity. And Thank God that America is 83% Christian. For all the Christian bashing that goes on in this forum, those people need to take a look at how other faiths handle their transgressors.

It not your country, it's theirs. Iran does not tell the US how to prosecute violators of the law...
