The object, MONEY, by itself is just a useless piece of paper.. however, it is the idea of MONEY for use in trading that's important as it places a monetary VALUE to a useless piece of paper..
So..if you remove the intangible idea of VALUE in a piece of paper..i guess it makes it unimportant. :P
Unfortunately, in this 'civilised' world, without those 'useless pieces of paper', we're not able to buy (trade) anything ... :)

Money is important as we need to use it to buy things we need to survive but too much or too little can be a burden.
So we need to have enough money just for our own survival.
