Just don't get confused and give them back to whoever gave them to you, LoL...

ABSOLUTELY NOT, and I think it's despicable that this is becoming socially acceptable in our society. A gift should be something that comes from your heart that was personally by you selected for the recipient.
If you receive a gift you don't like or don't want, give it away to someone who can use it, but don't wrap like a gift as if you personally selected it for someone. That really is appalling and insulting. If you're really, really cheap, you could offer to trade it for something that a friend received and doesn't want.
If you really don't care enough about the person to make the effort to select a gift for them yourself, maybe you don't really need to be giving them a gift anyway.
Our society is getting ruder and tackier, and people with manners need to stand up and say no to it.

Once a gift is given to you, you can do with it as you please whether you cherish it, toss it or recycle it. There is one situation where it is quite acceptable to "recycle" a gift - it is passing on a family heirloom.
I guess the hestitancy about recycling gift is the fact that it usually occurs when the gift giving is obligatory and not desired. One can feel quite hypocritical about those kinds of gifts.

I like do over gifts, especially when I show the gifts to someone and tell them that I don't want some item and they get real excited about having it. It becomes a win win situation they get what they want and I get rid of a gift I did not want.

I don't see a problem with it at all---just as long as the gift hasn't been used and is still in great shape, and the person you are giving it to is in no way shape or form related to or associated with the person who originally gave it to you. Otherwise, feelings may be hurt.

Yes, as long as the person who originally gave you the gift is not associated with the new person getting the gift.

That is a tough one. If you give it away and the giver happens to ask you about it, then it won't be so nice, right? Well, I guess you can keep it in your house as a souvenir.. You can look at it as a reminder of the giver's kind thoughts for you even though you don't use it. On the other hand, if it is taking up too much space in your home, you might consider giving some away..

If it hasn't been used, meaning that the gift hasn't been opened, give it as a gift to another person who does need it.
If the gift has been opened and used, keep it for yourself or donate it to a local charity.

I think it's a great idea. I have been known to mark out names on the cards that I receive and send them to someone else. My wife thinks that it's cheap to do that, and I agree, but can't help thinking of all the money that I save.

i believe that you should keep the love flowing in you don't use them. gone are the days when people come over expecting to see their gift.( unless you live in a small town, then don't do it unless you send them out of town)

I would give them to the needy.
Salvation army, marines toys for tots, your church or a local church that does a drive for Christmas, etc.
