After an emergency with my computer i had to reformat it, and i saved my outlook 2003 emails/contacts >> all which was in an .OST File. Now with my newly installed windows adn outlook 2003. i need pst files to work with. So i basically need a .ost to .pst converter.
Please i need a free one, if not please provide the softwares that do this. or is there another way to do it.

Firstly Im trying to understand where from the OST file came? Did this belong to Outlook Express? Because I have worked from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003. I have only used PST files for my mails. Would appreciate more information to help you better.

DO NOT try any of these so-called "free trials". Yes, they are free, but they don t do any damn things. All these free trials do are scanning your ost files and giving you a list and telling you to pay for the full version before you can recover those files. The free trials DO NOT recover or actually convert any files. One of the free trials does generate pst files but all messages you recovered reads something like this "this is a file recovered from the free trial and does not contain real contents. If you want to recover them, please pay for the full version".
If you have a backed-up ost file (say abc.ost) that you want to recover some files in it but you do not want to completely overwrite your current ost file (say xyz.ost). Then, do the following:
1. Close your Outlook.
2. Go to the folder that contains xyz.ost (default folder is c:\Users\
3. Rename xyz.ost to some other name (say def.ost).
4. Copy abc.ost to the folder and rename xyz.ost.
5. Start Outlook, now all your messages are replaced by the renamed ost file.
6. Export all messages into a pst file (say abc.pst).
7. Exit Outlook.
8. Remove the (renamed) xyz.ost, rename the saved def.ost back to xyz.ost.
9. Run Outlook, now your messages are replaced by the original xyz.ost file.
10. Import abc.pst back to Outlook, choose "do not import duplicates".
That s how I recovered my lost messages. Of course, if you do not have a backed up ost file, then you are out of luck, even those free (or paid) recover programs won t help you.
