I'd go somewhere and buy nice red meat. It's too risky.

Fresh is "never" brown... The sale date may be correct from the time the store purchased it, but an employee could have left it out too long before packaging.
You can't always go by the sale date. I do know of some people that will still use meat once it has started browning. Me, never a chance.
OK, I just did a search and this is what I found on CNN's website.
Selecting:
Look for moistness and bright color. Red or pink meat is a sign of freshness, although vacuum-packed meats may look slightly purplish for lack of exposure to air. Avoid meat that looks brown. It may be spoiled.

It turns brown due to air (oxygen). As long as it's not smelly or feels slimey it should be okay. But make sure you cook it right away because that tells you that the meat is getting old.

Usually if it is "brown" towards the surface but still pink in the middle its ok to buy, it just means that the blood settled out of the surface of the meat. But if you open it and the center is brown also then no, its turning rancid and your store where you bought it, is selling bad meat and you shouldnt shop there.

hamburger meat browns as it ages. the browner the meat, the older it is. if it doesn't have an odor, or slimy feel, it's probably ok to eat. cook thoroughly. to be on the safe side, always use meat with in 3-4 days of purchasing. and always remember, when in doubt, throw it out!!

Yes ground meat goes brown when it gets oxygen, oxygen will enter plastic wrap, or even plastic bags because they do allow gasses in and out over time. It may be brown on the outside but if you break it open it's probably bright red inside. Still fresh! But your instincs are useually correct, if it smells funky, is slimy, or wasn't cold when you bought it run away!

It should only be brown if you cooked it, otherwise it's definately not fresh! It should have a reddish-pink color when you get it from the store, I wouldn't touch it if I were you- too risky.

if it doesn't smell, it's probably ok, but it won't taste as good. and, as you're probably eating meat to enjoy it, it might not pay. personally, depending on the situation, I might eat it.

Yes, if it doesn't smell bad and if the expiration is not up. Meet is red, these days, because they paint it or dye it. Meet is normally brown.

I would throw it away. If you have to question it, then your best to get rid of it.
