Why don't we all put our money where our mouth is??

How easy is it to say, "god, please bless those less fortunate than I, so I don't have to part with my fortune."???

God does not give blessings so that you can ask him to give blessings to your neighbor. He gives blessings so that you can give to your neighbor knowing that he will come through for you even if you don't have a bundle of money and stuff stored away.

For Muslims, "formal" communication with God is done at least five times a day and this is called "salat" (contact prayer). During each prayer, Muslim is obliged to recite Qur'anic chapter 1 : Al-Fateehah ('the key', 'the opening'). Al-Fateehah is also known as the ummul-Qur'an (essence of Qur-an). We pray towards God not because God is in need of humans, rather it is the mortals that are in need of God's guidance. A successful / accepted /perfect salat would almost definitely "change" a believer, in a sense that He would give the key that opens up the reality behind the things a believer face everyday, so that he could decide and choose wisely based on such guidance.

Very good question. It think it's the beginning of charity. The next step is to put that prayer into action.

Our prayers are to draw us nearer to God's heart and His will. He is faithful and a covenant keeping God.

Paul tells us to pray without ceasing.

...talk with the living God anytime, He's always available to His children :o)

There are three answers to prayers: Yes, No and Wait.

all the praying may just make you feel better.

but it really does not do anything.

praying and 1 dollar will get you a ride on the subway or is it $2 now?
If you want change, only you have the power to choose to change.
and you really do have the power inside you.
Good Luck

I ask for guidance and intervention, most often, for America. Guess it would be a good idea to include all of mankind.

Praying is another way of communicating with someone higher up there. It makes us feel somewhat relieved coz we've shared our deepest thoughts in silence where no one is around.

Its more like for sanity.

Not everyone believes in a "higher" being. To their doom, they had rather believe that they were a worm or some other low creature that crawled out of the ocean and evolved into who they are today. They DON'T pray!!! Keep praying. Pops

I have never prayed once in my life. I feel my thoughts and my knowledge, I don't want to say wisdom, do the praying for me. Because I have too much going on in my mind about God. And I try my best to know what temptation is so it is hard for me to sin.
