Sure it's easy to make. But unless you don't have a huge freezer and 100 ice trays, you need to buy a bag of ice.

Bad tasting water, lazy, or need a lot. I must admit in the summer I do buy a bag and it sure is nice to just go in and get it and not have to mess around with the trays. I like the size and it more like crushed ice which I love.

We just bought ice yesterday because out of no where our ice maker broke.
Sometimes it's easier to just buy a big bag rather than make a bunch of ice.

I don't make ice at home, because my water has so many minerals, chlorine in it that the cubes end up tasting salty.

i have often wondered that myself, its a fair question to be sure, i suppose the answer is laziness and convenience.
