I am not in the Army. I am in the USAF but I can still answer this question.

As far as equipement and weapons you will not have to pay for any of it. The military supplies it you just need to make sure you dont lose it.

The only thing you will be required to pay for is your day to day uniforms. That is covered also because every year you get a clothing allowance which is more then enough to cover everything. I get mine this year and I think its close to 500 and I dont even need new uniforms.

You will gain a lot in the military. You will get some of the most advance training in the world and you will be disciplined to handle almost any situation. For example when I first came in at 18 I was controlling nuclear weapons. Pretty big job at the age of 18 if you ask me.

The only thing my son had to buy was his Officer uniform, they furnished money for other uniforms. They issue weapons & equipment. The recruiter was totally upfront with him. You have to listen & not just hear what you want. He is Army Ranger & Officer and loves serving his country.
I have never met anyone who says they were tricked into Army -
you have to go into recruiters office & then you have to sign papers. If you can read, you should know what is agreed upon.

They give you allowance for so much but if you need anything later, it's at your expence. I know I was a little bit shocked when my daughter was getting ready to go to Iraq and had to pick up the gear that was on her list. She had to pay for all of it and I really didn't think that was fair.

Yes, in some training instances you are required to buy certain items. SF training for example. While you are in student company you do make purchases . after that no it is issued. You do have to pay for upkeep of uniforms patches and such.

YOUR MONEY IS USED TO PAY YOUR PERSONAL BILLS IF YOU HAVE ANY, IT IS ALWAYS GOOD TO SAVE SO MAKE THAT A HABITNO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR ARMY ISSUED EQUIPMENT OR SUPPLIES FROM THE ARMY UNLESS YOU LOSE THEM THEM YOU WILL BE MADE TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF YOUR OWN POCKET, THAT'S WHY YOU SHOULD KEEP UP WITH YOUR THINGS.
YOUR MONEY IS USED TO PAY YOUR PERSONAL BILLS.

I HOPE THIS HELPS!!.

no you don't have to pay for your equipment

as for being tricked...if you're stupid enough to sign a contract without making sure its got what you were promised in it then you deserve to be tricked. too many are whining they got tricked when its up to them to make sure all that they wanted and were promised is written in it.
