It varies from vet to vet- however, if you check into the local animal clinic, versus a normal vet, they usually offer a rabies clinic and may even offer a heart worm prevention treatment as well. Check with your SPCA also, because they can usually do these things for pretty inexpensive.

If it's a puppy, they have to have 4 boosters, then the rabies. Your vet will use dewormer every visit til they're a certain age. The shots usually cost around $50 for a visit. The rabies shot is $15. I know cuz I have a puppy that just went through all of this. My vet only charges around $75 a year for shots. You can get the 3 year rabies shot id it's a puppy over 6 months. Heartwom pills cost anywhere from $4 amonth to around $15 a month depending on the size of the dog.

In most communities, rabies shots are mandatory. As there are many animals who carry rabies, like bats, raccoons, oppossums, etc., it is always a possibility a dog might contract this disease if he comes into contact with a carrier of the illness.
Checking to see if your dog has heartworm generally costs around $30 (plus office visit...again, contact your animal shelter...)
Heartworm preventative varies depending on the brand you use. We use ivermectin, as we have a kennel, and we pay $30 for a bottle that lasts all of our dogs for two seasons. I can't tell you what the other brands cost.

My vet charges $13 for a rabies shot, but then you have to add the $30 charge just to go into the room. So $43 for a $13 item. there are a few different types of Heart guard, so check with your vet to see what is right for your dog and then get the price.

Well after the initial vet visit fee, yearly shots are around $125. It is ridiculous, but well worth it. Please vaccinate your pets.
If the dog is over a year old you can get a 3 year rabies vaccine, so you only have to pay for it once ever 3 years instead of yearly.

Lots of Vets have rabies "Clinics' where they only charge 10 dollars for a shot and you can get dewormer at Feed and Seed stores or even wal-mart for under 20 dollars.

In am not sure where you live but petsmart has banfield pet hospitals in them they offer wellness plans that include all shots look into that it is well worth it . I saved over 600 dollars already in vet care
