Who told you the tooth was not connected and why wasn't it removed then??
I would go to a (reputable) dentist and have them check things out.

Unfortunately, wizzys don't fall out on their own.
Instead, I suspect this may be a retained baby tooth that you're talking about, probably a lower baby molar 5th from the front. This is not uncommon.
As for complications, there may be little at all - you'll just be missing a lower tooth, which might make eating a bit more difficult.
The only long-term concern is whether some real wisdom tooth at the back might cause some unhealthy tilting of the adjacent molars into the gap. This depends on a few things and you will need a consultation. More than could be covered here.

RE:
Wisdom tooth fell out on its own. What should I watch for as far as complications go?
I was told years ago that the tooth was not connected to the jaw and would fall out eventually. The tooth has been very loose and painful when it moved for months. There was no pain when it came out and no bleeding.

I've actually seen this with tiny little upper wisdom teeth. If it fell out on its own, you are pretty much over and done with it. If it fell out, there was no more connection between the tooth and gum, so there was no bleeding and there will be no risk of dry socket. Just keep it clean by rinsing and thank your lucky stars.

It depends on the person. Usually 17yrs onwards. In some persons it not at all erupts in their lifetime. Pain is normal while the eruption of wisdom tooth. U chew sugarless chewing gum with that side so that the tissue covering the tooth will be soft and pull backwards. Make ur mouth clean always. rinse warm saline water morning ang evening after brushing. U have pain take any painkiller.Confirm u ve no drug allergy. Uncomfortable pain visit ur dentist and he will remove that overlying tissue on ur tooth(oppurculectomy)(only if it is not coming off by itself).very minor procedure doing under local anesthesia.

be cautious of dry socket, usually smokers will suffer this affliction ,but any one is susceptible. keep it coverd with gauze for a day or so.
It is possible to get an infection while the socket has not healed. do not rinse the first day and half, after that rinse lightly in the morning and night. If it seems to be closing well you may use a peroxide or salt water rinse to keep out any infection.
Pay close attention to your jaw bone, without over massaging, for a few weeks, there is a possibility of infectious bone dammage.
Good luck, and see your dentist as soon as humanly possibility.

I had to read this one twice. I have never heard of that happening to anyone. Wow. You should probably be aware or cautious of any tenderness or 'heat' around the area in case of an infection. You just saved yourself a bunch of $$ though. If it hurts at all, go to the dentist or doctor.

If the roots are on the tooth then it came out clean. Be careful chewing food in the area until the gum heal so it not get impacted with food and infect.

just watch out for infection, and try not to drink vinegar on that side of the mouth for a few weeks (that would be somewhat painful).
