In Canada, when a job adverts says theyre looking for 'servers' , does this mean waiter/waitress..or could server also refer to someone just at the cash register. It doesnt say the company so it doesnt say whether its a restaurant or not...just says server.

I've been a restaurant manager for a few years now. It definetly means they are looking for a waitress at a restaurant

Servers are waiters/waitresses.
As well, yes they are tipped....generally 15 to 20 per cent. However I'm not sure whether that is split with the cooks/chefs etc. Never worked in such an establishment...I just do the tipping.

To me, it sounds like a server at a restaurant or a place where someone is planning on serving food for a wedding or business lunch. I guess you will find someone serving in a game of tennis or volleyball, but I don't think this is what they mean.

They mean that they'll take what they can get. waiters/waitresses are irrelevant....im not sure if it means that they need a cashier, you might just want to call and ask
