I must admit i love older guys but then again, i've always been more mature than my age......when i was 18, i dated a guy that was 42.....at the time it was wonderful but i could tell there at the end, he was ready for a serious relationship while i was just getting started......so age isn't really an issue so much as the maturity of each person and the expectations of each person out of the relationship, i mean if one person wants to get married and the other one don't ever want to, then that's a problem, plus if you don't have things in common, it's going to be a boring relationship......but to be typical, for a (mature) 23 year old , i think i'd gawk a bit if they were with someone older than 50 but they're are exceptions to this

I've dated someone that was 20 years my senior (I'm in my mid 20's) My parents are 20 years older than me so to date someone around the same age as my pops, was too much for me. I often find myself dating men that are at least 6-8 years older than me, and I'm perfectly comfortable with that. They seem a little more settled and mature, and more often have their stuff together.

Supposedly, "age is just a number" . Poppycock! Two people who expect to be together don't necessarily need to have graduated the same year, but they definitely need a similar amount of life experience. Most relationships with a wide age gap are based on something false.

I would have a diff answer if you had said having sex with or marrying. But if you are only talking about going out to dinner and or a movie, then what is the difference. An older date may be more interesting than a younger one.

(I'm pretty old, so you don't want to know the limits that I'd set for myself... and I'm old enough to really love Merlin's answer.)
Everyone is different. It's up to the two of you. His maturity and yours are the question. He could be a youthful thinker and you could be a mature thinker.
You both need to have similar interests, energy levels, and ideals.
There's no set limit. It's what you and he can work with.
Good luck!

Well when I was 21 I dated a 38 year old guy! He was ok, but honestly older men are so set in their ways, they aren't looking for a compromising relationship. I mean really, graduated high school when I was born!
