Catholics are still Christians, in fact the Roman Catholig Religion and Eastern Orthodox Christian churches have the historicity to claim that they are the original Christian church.
Unfortunately both have move huge distances away from the doctrines as taught by Christ in their simplicity, so it is hard to say that they contain all of the truths of Christ's church in their purity.
But there is a deeper problem with Christianity in general. Assume that both of those churchs are like a "dead tree", i.e. the doctrines have been changed enough to preclude their claiming to be the full and only true church. Well, you can't have live branches growing on a dead tree, so nearly all of the remaining Christian churches can't claim to be the full and true church either.
So either God has to "plant a new tree" and restore Christianity in it's purity, or we just don't have it. That said, Jesus himself told the Apostles when another was preaching Christ that those who are not against Christ are for him, and would be blessed. So your belief in Christ is the key thing even if you follow Catholism as a church.

I was born and raised catholic. i even have an uncle who is a catholic preist.
i currently do not follow the order of catholicism. however even though there are some differences in the way "christian" churches and catholic ones do things, it all comes down to a few simple truths that will define you. it is possible to be a christian and catholic at the same time. but understand that just because you are catholic doesn't mean you are a christian.
these few truths are:
1)you are a sinner on your way to hell
2)JESUS is the reason you are saved from that hell-not by anything we or anyone else could ever do
3)Jesus died, and rose, and will come again
4)You don't need to pray to anyone but the "Father" in the name of JESUS
5)and finally, Love, Love, Love
I will pray for you to be at peace
God Bless!

Many (most) people believe that the Catholic Church IS in fact a Christian church. (some on the fringe have problems with the concept)
If you have opened your heart and your mind to the love and mercy of the one true God, and accepted salvation thru His Son, Jesus, then you are, in fact, a Christian. If you are a member of the Catholic Church then you are both Catholic AND Christian.
I personally believe that Christian says a LOT more than denominational labels (Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc).

I really don't know, I think you would have to ask a catholic priest to be sure. However, I was always under the assumption that once a Catholic ... always a Catholic. That is, until you get baptized into another church, or marry into one. Some churches require you to be "brought into the fold" before marrying there. Example: If you were to marry a Jewish girl in a Orthodox Jewish ceremony, you would first have to get circumcised and then do a series of "things" and become Jewish. However, I know many practising Catholics married to people of different faiths ... it really is a matter of choice! What do you want to be?
I was raised Catholic and still consider myself to be. However, being gay makes it hard for me to attend. I feel hypocritical and refuse to continue going until their views of how I was born change. It's all very confusing at times .. I know, TRUST ME! However, I think that if you keep your faith in God and be the best human being you can be, then it doesn't matter which christian faith you belong to. But whatever you do; stay clear of being judgmentally and above all, be honest with yourself as well as others.

Did you accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord? Doesn't matter whether it was at "a christian church" or a "Protestant Church" or out on a hillside somewhere. That is accepting Jesus and the Atonement which He purchased by His Sacrifice on Calvary's Cross.
I think you are referring to Roman Catholic? Are they not followers of Jesus the Christ? I think they believe in one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
So, now are you, for your salvation, trusting in Christ
s Perfect Sacrifice on Calvary, or are you trusting in the priestly sacrifices on the altars?
RCs seem to have many "visual aids", rosary, stations, tabernacle, monstrances, etc. As a Protestant I would strongly say that those are NOT necessary; but some of them might be "helpful".
As I have often said, it seems that Roman Catholics have ADDED much (by way of traditions, etc.) to the Scriptural faith; and many Protestants (liberals, at least) have taken away a lot of the essential Scriptural Faith.
I am sure your priest would definitely say you are a Christian; some baptists and others probably would say you are not. IMO, God and you are the only ones that can know ... in what or Whom are you trusting for your Salvation?

Many churches DISTORT Biblical teaching on becoming a Christian. The ONLY book in the New Testament which describes people becoming Christians or tells what they did is Acts. Look at the first Gospel sermon recorded beginning in Acts 2:14 and see what those first Christians were told to do.
Ac 2:37 When the people heard this, their hearts were filled with shame. They said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”
38 Peter replied, “All of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then your sins will be forgiven. You will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Paul's letters were written to people that were ALREADY CHRISTIANS. The Gospels tell of Jesus' ministry TO JEWS LIVING UNDER THE LAW. ONLY IN ACTS ARE WE TOLD HOW TO BECOME CHRISTIANS.

If you were baptised Catholic you are always a Catholic. Once you were baptised there, your heart was given to God. You are a Catholic and a Christian. Since Catholicism was found by Christ it is Christian.
You should still attend Mass weekly.
God bless,

No one can choose for you to follow Christ. This is why you don't find Jesus or the disciples baptizing babies. I understand your predicament. I was raised as a Catholic myself and was an altar boy for a number of years. My brother was going through to become a priest. At some point in my life i realised the importance of making a commitment to Christ myself, however I continued going to the Catholic church for some time. Over time I began to realise how confused alot of the theology really was. Please don't think I am anti-Catholic becasue I don't feel that way. However there is an importance in putting God first and not men. What I began to find was there was so many traditions and practices in the Catholic church that were either contrary to what was practiced in the bible or there was no evidence for it whatsoever. Take salvation for instance. we learn in the bible to accept Christ yet in the Catholic church you go to heaven by becoming a catholic and then trying to be perfect. This is very confusing. If you could be perfect ang go to heaven Jesus would have never had to die for our sins. And how will you know if your good deeds out weigh your bad. Then there is talk of purgatory, no evidence in the bible of this whatsoever. To suggest such a place exists means that Jesus death for our sins wasn't sufficient, and that somehow you can earn your way into heaven. Regardless of what my catholic friends suggest in no place in the new testament do you find Peter being called Pope by any of the other disciples or do you find him being treated like he is the head of the church. They often misquote the passage of Jesus saying though art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church. The word Jesus used for Peter was actually stone Petros, and Jesus referred to himself as the Rock. It stands to reason if it is God's church why would he build it on anybody but himself. In fact scriptures teach this. No other foundation can be laid than that which is laid which is Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 3:10 If I can suggest one thing that is the first commandment. Love the Lod your God with all your heart mind strength. Asmuch as leaders can be helpful they were never meant to replace our devotion to God first. If I had to chose between following the Pope or following Jesus I would choose Jesus. It is not my intent to put down Catholics but rather to put Jesus at the head where he belongs. Men can be wrong but you can trust God.
